Developing good organizational skills for school environment is just as important as organizational skills in the home environment. When students go to school they'd like to know what is expected of them and what they can do to do get things right. Teachers should set out routines clearly and explain these routines to children so they know what rules should be followed. For younger kids organizational skills for school can include knowing where the designated areas to put their coats, hats, scarves and winter boots are; which cubby hole is for their use and what special things these cubby holes should be used for.
Teachers of older children should have all their assignments, letters, homework and curriculum resources filed away neatly. Well organized teachers will give themselves enough time to grade and return assignments to students. If teachers take too long to return assignments, students will easily recognize this as procrastination and bad organization. The students may pick up these bad habits or simply not respect the teachers and will lower the standards for organizational skills for school. If teachers teach different classes, each class should have its own individual file. Tests, quizzes and assignments should be marked on the teacher's calendar so they never forget to collect them. Not only will they learn organizational skills but also learn to be responsible people.
Organizational skills for school must be practiced by all to be successful. Teachers need to cooperate to create a secure and organized environment to teach students. As well they must set the example by having good organizational skills in collecting and giving assignments and grading. Students will learn by their example. Students must also cooperate by following the rules set out by their teachers and learn the organizational skills required of them. If all do their part it will create an ideal environment for learning where students will excel.
